A letter to the parents from our Chapter President

Here at the Texas State University chapter of Delta Sigma Phi, we truly cherish every member that comes into our sincere brotherhood. This brotherhood has positively affected so many brothers who have come and gone through our chapter. We plan to continue to our genuine effort of building better men by striving for better lives. By this simple mission, we have been able to build a brotherhood that is exemplary in our Inter-Fraternal Council.

Our chapter has been in the top two chapter GPA’s in all of the IFC chapters since our conception in the Spring of 2016. We have also established our local philanthropic efforts with our Peanut Butter Collection that benefits School Fuel of San Marcos. This non-profit organization provides food over the weekends to less fortunate elementary school students. In addition to our local philanthropic efforts, we host several events throughout each semester that benefits our national philanthropy, which is the American Red Cross. We also have a semester standard of 15 hours of community service per member, so we have been able to impact our community in a number of different ways.

We also provide an atmosphere where friendships can be built and maintained far beyond our college careers. We have started a brotherhood day-retreat that we plan to have every semester to bond and build relationships we cherish for the rest of our lives. We also host brotherhood events where our brothers enjoy free food or admission to things like paintball or bowling, which is all paid for through semester dues. Social events, like our formal or semi-formal, are also paid for through our dues. At these events we celebrate our accomplishments, exemplary members and dedication to our chapter. Our events are always registered with the University and comply with all of the safety precautions that are set in place by the Greek Affairs Office. We not only follow the safety guidelines to ensure that our chapter does not get in trouble, but we also follow these guidelines to ensure that our brothers and guests are fully safe at our events.

Delta Sigma Phi has not only helped me build relationships that I will cherish for the rest of my life, but it has also built me as a professional and as a leader. I have served in three highly ranked executive board positions in Delta Sig and I have attended three leadership conferences that are hosted by the Delta Sigma Phi national organization. I have gained tremendous experience in building and maintaining an organization from the ground up. Also, I have learned how to effectively lead a group of men that have the common goal of bettering their lives through being a member of a fraternity. I owe the person I have become and my future career that I land because of the skills I have learned from my involvement in the Theta Eta chapter of Delta Sigma Phi.

I am dedicated to ensure that our chapter is producing fraternity men and not frat boys. I truly believe that Delta Sigma Phi builds better men because of the way we approach fraternity. Thank you for your son’s dedication or your son’s interest in our organization.

Best,

Travis Walker
